- Squealing sound is the most common way to understand that it's time for when you press the brakes and you hear a sound that just drives you kind of crazy it’s about time to change your brakes. This happens when brake pads are low there is a metal stick that scrapes against the brake disk letting you know it’s time to change your brakes.

- Clicking noise or rattle noise usually happens when brakes get used up and they start shifting from place to place and that's a good sign that you need to change them.

- Takes longer to stop the car and it feels like not grabbing on as much is the perfect indication that you need your brakes not only checked but changed.

- Indicator light turn on that says you need your brakes changed usually only comes on certain models.

- Brake pads appear less then ¼ inch thick is a good sign you need your brakes changed because that reduces stopping time which can cause an accident.
